The short review is the game is fun for the first 5 hours or so but once the novelty wears off you are left with a game where people snipe you from across the map over and over again. Final Verdict is a 5/10.
Battlefield 1 suffers from the “N00bs don’t have fun” problem. It is fun to ride around in the OP vehicle but that’s not what you will be doing for most of your games. WW1 is a cool setting but just like the real war dying every 10 seconds is not as fun as you think it will be. Overall I give this game a 5/10. If you are a fan of twitch FPS games you’ll probably love this game but it’s not a good one to be introduced to the genera. I will say connecting to a game is way easier on PC than it was for Battlefield 4. The Graphics are great as well.
P.S. This video was recorded during the open Beta so the game might be great now.
Greater Than Games (GTG) just canceled their latest Kickstarter 2 days before it would have ended. They were at 70% and moving slowly. So should they have canceled? Should they restart? Here are 7 reasons that I think it struggled and why they should restart half of the campaign.
1. December and January are the 2 slowest months on Kickstarter. The other project I’m following this month is also struggling despite having a huge following.
One of the games I have been working on is called Dragon and Rider. It is a 2 or 4 player game where you take on the role of either a Dragon or a Dragon Rider working with a partner (or yourself in the 2 player game) to bring down your opponents in aerial combat. The gameplay was really fun but the cards were ugly.
This card was so ugly and complicated it made the game feel like a mental exercise instead of a fun card game. It was even more ugly before the picture. So how did I fix it? I removed all information from the card except the information that was needed to make good decisions. Continue reading →
Lots of people have been asking me what games I would recommend to people looking to start getting into board games so I made this list. I would not say everyone should get all of these (except maybe Sentinels of the Multiverse) but they are a good place to start. Before buy any game you should do a google search to find out more about it. Most games you can find video reviews and rule books so you can see if it is the game for you. There are a lot of good board games but not everyone will like everything. This list covers a wide variety of different types of games so you can find one you and your game group will like. If one or more of these games looks interesting just like on the name and it will bring you to the BoardGameGeek page on it. BoardGameGeek.com is like the Wikipedia of board games.
Sentinels of the Multiverse is a cooperative, fixed-deck card game with a comic book flavor. Each player plays as one of ten heroes, against one of four villains, and the battle takes place in one of four different dynamic environments. If you want to be a Super Hero this is the game for you. Continue reading →
I have noticed, especially on the internet, that people love to have opinions about things. You can’t mention a topic without people jumping to one side or the other. What does this do? It separates us and divides us as a nation, a church and as friends. Now I’m not going to say standing for your beliefs and debating politics is wrong but I would like to make the point that we need to pick our battles.
I am a debater, coming from many years competing and winning awards. One thing that I learned is that arguing and debating are exhausting. It is hard to be constantly defending your position. What makes it worse is that people often take their ideas way too seriously. Some people think they are the sum of their ideas. Others think that their ideas are separate from themselves. It is very easy to take things personally when debating if you are the sum of your ideas. My debate coaches often said “attack the argument, not the man,” which is only truly effective when the debater and ideas are separate. Continue reading →
